Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, many players are expressing frustration over some of the game's toughest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced turning to tailored sessions created through the Portal feature to complete them, emphasizing just how demanding these missions have become.

Comprehending Battlefield 6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. It features four categories of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one main guns present in the game.

A number of these locked weapons might eventually make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration on Reddit

On Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and only works at very short distances, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

Another Reddit user pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

However, when doing the challenges in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for finishing these in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are made easier in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.

Currently, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced player experience in coming revisions.
