Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Is Here, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
The company has three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
